About UsCorporate HistoryIn 1983, Mike and Tess Bolong, founders of TruCare Community, discovered that their brother had an undetected mental illness that resulted in depression, lack of motivation and paranoia. In an effort to understand his behavior and provide him with the best care, they spent years consulting with doctors, researching methods of treatment and learning from friends who shared similar experiences. It was clear to them that dependable and relevant services were not available to help the mentally ill.As a result, Tess, a registered nurse, and Mike, an engineer with extensive management experience, wanted to provide service to these mentally ill individuals and help them lead healthy lives. They opened the doors to their first community in Long Beach named Bay Breeze Care. Now, Bay Breeze Care, along with 2 other communities, serves over 250 clients who suffer from mental illness. Over time, similar concerns were noted between caring for the mentally ill and caring for the elderly such as depression, inconsistent standards of care, and lack of empathy by care providers. As the population of Los Angeles and Orange County continued to age, Mike and Tess recognized the need to apply their skills to serve the elderly. In 1990, Woodruff Care Home became their first TruCare community to provide assisted living care to seniors. They used their 35 years of practical experience to train committed staff members and to provide care you can trust. Since then, they expanded their scope of services to provide assisted living care for the elderly, specialized dementia care for residents with memory impairments, and at-home care for the terminally ill. The Founders` core values remain a foundation for the support, care and compassion provided to the families and residents of TruCare`s communities. It remains the company`s mission to consistently delight residents with superior service they can value and trust, excellent quality care, and a clean, safe and comfortable environment. |
